It is fast becoming the service centre for the region between Townsville and Cairns with most major chain stores having a presence. With our local cafe's and many eateries our community is also serviced by Coles, Woolworths, Kmart, Cairns Hardware, Bunnings, Harvey Norman, Super Cheap Auto, Repco and Furniture stores. As well as national food chains like McDonalds, Hungry Jacks, KFC and Subway.

Originally developed as a sugar growing town, Innisfail now offers a wide range of horticulture crops with plentiful water and warm weather fruits like Bananas, Papaya, Passionfruit, Lychees, producing high quality fruit that regularly fetch above average prices at the market.
Innisfail also offers an international deep-water port at Mourilyan Harbour that caters for cargo and freight ships and is being used for a sugar handling facility, with ships up to a draught of 8 metres being able to enter.
